Overview
ReportWORQ supports the refresh of Excel-based reports created using the Anaplan Excel add-in. These reports use specifications that are embedded into hidden properties on each worksheet. ReportWORQ understands these report specifications and can use them to dynamically query data from Anaplan to update Excel worksheets. ReportWORQ refreshes data using the Anaplan REST API.
ReportWORQ helps you automate Anaplan-enabled Excel reports by using ReportWORQ Parameters to copy sheets and adjust filter elements in the report specifications. ReportWORQ additionally supports Anaplan-specific Parameter types, driven by Anaplan Dimension element selections.
Single Connection Limitation
Only a single ReportWORQ connection to Anaplan is currently supported.
This topic covers the configuration of a connection to Anaplan as well as other features supported:
A connection must be configured in ReportWORQ by a ReportWORQ Administrator to use Anaplan as a datasource.
Configuration
To add an Anaplan connection to the list of available Datasources, ReportWORQ administrators open the Administration screen then click the '+' button beside Datasources, and select the Anaplan option:
The required configuration is displayed in the right-side pane:
Datasource Name: Any name can be selected for the connection, but defaults to 'Anaplan'
Endpoint: This is the URL endpoint used to connect to your Anaplan environment, and to access Anaplan data using the Anaplan REST API.
Authentication Endpoint: This is the URL used when authenticating to Anaplan, and is normally the following unless you are using a customer authentication 'provider: auth.anaplan.com'
Host: This is the Host used to connect to your Anaplan environment, and to access Anaplan data using the Anaplan REST API.
Distribution Username & Password: The required connection credentials are the same credentials used to authenticate to Anaplan, for instance when using its Excel add-in.
Test: Clicking the '✓' button will either display a success message or show error messages with further information on missing or misconfigured settings.
Save: The 'Save' button saves changes made to the connection.
The Anaplan Datasource can be enabled or disabled by clicking the checkbox.
Anaplan-Specific ReportWORQ Parameters
ReportWORQ has an Anaplan-specific Dimension Parameter type that can be used to select a list of elements from an Anaplan dimension, for instance, to generate multiple copies of a report for each element value. Please see Creating Jobs for more information on using Parameters in ReportWORQ.
