Article Summary

Connections to sources of data must be defined in ReportWORQ to allow reporting data to be refreshed when running ReportWORQ jobs. Datasources are defined by ReportWORQ administrators on the Administration page that can be opened from the Administration button on the top right in ReportWORQ:

To create a new Datasource, click the '+' button beside Datasources:

The available Datasource options are:

  • Anaplan: Used to define a connection to the Anaplan Cloud and provide access to data in workspaces, models, modules, and any other sources required for refreshing Excel reports developed with Anaplan's Excel add-in. Anaplan dimensions can additionally be used as a source for ReportWORQ Parameters.

  • IBM Planning Analytics (TM1): Used to define a connection to IBM Planning Analytics to provide access to cubes, dimensions, and any other sources required for refreshing Excel reports developed with IBM's Planning Analytics for Excel (PAfE) and Perspectives Excel add-ins. Planning Analytics dimensions, subsets, and MDX queries can additionally be used as a source for ReportWORQ Parameters. There are two connection options available:

    • On Premise: This is used for any self-hosted & managed Planning Analytics instances

    • Cloud: This is used for any Planning Analytics instances that are fully IBM-hosted and managed.

  • Oracle EPM Cloud: Provides access to Oracle EPM Cloud data in cubes, dimensions, and any other sources required for refreshing reports developed using Oracle's Smart View Excel add-in.

  • SQL (Relational Database) Sources: Provides access to relational database data in support of some SQL-specific ReportWORQ formulas and parameters that integrate with these sources of data. Two primary driver options are supported, currently:

    • ODBC Providers

    • OLE DB Providers

  • Workday Adaptive Planning: Used to define a connection to Workday Adaptive Planning and provide access to available cubes, dimensions, and any other sources required for refreshing reports developed with the Workday OfficeConnect Excel add-in. Workday Adaptive Dimensions can additionally be used as a source for ReportWORQ Parameters.

ReportWORQ will automatically look for a defined datasource when refreshing reports containing formulas or other settings that reference one of the known datasource types above.

Managing Datasources

Disabling a Datasource will impact ReportWORQ's ability to successfully refresh reports and run jobs that rely on that Datasource, and may also impact special kinds of Datasource-specific Parameters and other ReportWORQ features. Individual Datasources can be edited at any time by clicking on the edit icon or the link associated with the Datasource name in the Datasources list.
