The AI assistant#

Reportworq is building an in-app assistant, a contextual capability rather than a chat window, intended to help you understand, diagnose, and navigate the platform with evidence-backed, auditable answers. This page describes what that assistant is and, honestly, its current state: it is present in the product but not yet switched on for customers in this build.

Current state: not yet customer-available#

The in-app assistant is not a customer-available capability in the current build. Its surface is gated off:

• The Ask AI chat assistant is a floating chat overlay whose agent can query your own reports and jobs through the same tools external AI clients use, scoped to your signed-in account. It ships wired off by default behind a build-time switch and cannot be turned on from an admin setting, so the Ask AI button does not appear in the header and the Reportworq Chat Bot card does not appear in the integrations hub.

Do not plan a rollout around this surface being available today. It is described here so you know what it is and how it is intended to work, not because it is on.

How the assistant is designed to behave#

The assistant is built to a clear design contract:

• Evidence before conclusion. An answer shows its supporting evidence, not just a verdict.
• Visible confidence. A diagnosis states how confident it is.
• Sources are inspectable. Answers trace back to the content-store object, activity item, audit event, schedule, datasource, or job configuration behind them.
• Mutations require approval. The assistant is defined never to change configuration silently. Any change is staged as a before-and-after you must approve.

When enabled, the assistant will draw its model from a chosen enabled AI connection, and its internal instruction prompt will come from The AI prompt store.

The AI features you can use today#

Several AI features are shipped and available now, once an administrator has connected a provider:

• AI-generated insights in reports attach model-written narrative to a distributed report, and cover the RWAIINSIGHT worksheet function that writes AI narrative into a workbook.
• Connect an AI provider is the prerequisite that turns those features on. Nothing model-backed works until an administrator has added and enabled at least one provider connection.
